A Revamped Website

The World Fantasy Convention was a lot fun—informative panels, inspirational discussion, and familiar faces (and a super convenient location for me!) all helped to make it a worthwhile experience. But as I was chatting with various writers and publishers, I realized something: People are actually looking at charlotte-koch.com! Oh no! (No sarcasm there—this was a bit of a surprise to me.)

But it shouldn’t have come as a surprise. I’d been giving people my business card, which clearly directs people to this domain. I’d ignored the site for so long that the previous website’s impression of the status of The Wolfskull Standard had become misleading.

Additionally, the recent EFA webinar I attended, which was about websites, encouraged me to take another look. I’d already lavished so much attention onto magentastripe.com; now it’s time for this domain to see some TLC, too. That’s why I decided to—well—completely overhaul charlotte-koch.com this weekend.

Behold the new website! It’s leaner and simpler, and it matches my preferred style of web design in general. The site’s page layout was designed and coded by hand. This time, we are using the sblg static site generator. It’s a very simple tool—very Unix-like. Maybe I’ll go into further detail about it on my personal website, which has a more technical leaning anyway.

Let this new blog post also serve as an announcement that I do fully intend to blog much more regularly. There’s a lot to talk about: My recent experience with copyediting a YA fantasy novel, learning about the screenwriting biz, researching trends in editing, and much more are already on my mind. Stay tuned!
